Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A Cistus introduction. This garden seedling has not only remained evergreen for us, but has leaves of eye-crossing chartreuse to gold and flowers so purple they seem nearly black. A stunning plant! Needless to say, should be used as carefully in the garden, because of its bold color but also...We are confident the flowers are sterile and this cultivar should not become a weed problem. USDA zone 6 Scrophulariaceae
This exciting new butterfly bush has brilliant yellow foliage that is topped with fragrant, beautifully contrasting rich purple flowers that are born in arching terminal racemes on a vigorous but manageable shrub-like perennial. All that and it's a butterfly magnet too! Butterfly Bushes are easily grown, free flowering butterfly magnets and are moderately drought tolerant once well established. Deadheading is not required but removing spent flowers will help the plant look 'cleaner'. Buddlejas can grow to become large shrub-like perennials in mild climates but most grow as herbaceous perennials in zone 6 and colder. In some states and counties Buddleja's are considered invasive, please check with your local state offices before purchasing.
Butterflies can't resist Buddleia 'Evil Ways'! This new introduction by Sean Hagan has 4-10" drooping, deep purple blooms which stand out again the chartreuse to yellow foliage. And clearly, people are no better than the butterflies -- they can't resist it either! :-)
