This tiny (to only 18 inches) compact ball of a Barberry has outstanding foliage of a deep-velvety purple that is rust resistant... a charming edger developed by Wavecrest Nursery in Michigan. S/M
My favorite of this species – refined and elegant, this deciduous, dwarf Barberry is a mere 18" tall and 30" wide in a tight flattened dome shape. Its velvet brocade leaves of red purple are absolutely stunning…this would be awesome paired in a knot garden with a silver leafed partner! Fine choice for mixing with heathers, dwarf conifers… specimen for the rock garden, foreground in the border. NO maintenance, full sun in most soils, drought tolt, deer resistant, red winter berries.
Especially large, white flowers with a burgundy star-shaped eye are produced for several months beginning in early summer, with the eye expanding to cover more of the petal surface in cooler temperatures. Since the flowers are sterile, they just keep on coming all season long without the need for deadheading.
Berberis thunbergii 'Concorde' is a horizontal barberry that will get to 18"x30". B. 'Concorde' has deep purple leaves that have a gray bloom creating a pretty small shrub. In October, the foliage turns beautiful red.
Draped in deep maroon velvety purple foliage, this splendid diminutive shrub maintains a dense rounded slow growing profile. Small bell-shaped yellow flowers, enhanced by warmly colored sepals, sparkle against opulent deciduous leaves, eventually giving way to a wintertime showing of bright red berries. Perfectly sized for edging, responsive to pruning and unyielding to deer or drought, 'Concorde' is a refined and easily maintained contender for containers, border frontage, low hedges and knot gardens, especially when paired with silver and green companions.
A dwarf variety to only 2'. Selected for its shiny, wine-colored foliage, burgundy with a hint of plum, mmmm. Flowers are bright yellow but not showy, still very attractive against the darker foliage. A fine selection for a sophisticated palette.
