Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Variety magnificum is like A. speciosum on steroids with very large tubers, flowers and foliage. The spathes are burgundy and white with a white spadix with a nearly three foot long, dangling, thread-like spathe appendage. It has large trifoliate leaves with red edges that are often dark purple underneath.
From the Himalayan Mountains. Requires mulch for protection in colder areas. These are an extra LARGE selection of Speciosum, also known as the Himalayan Giant. They have a slightly more open spathe than the regular Speciosum. These Tubers are at least the size of a softball. Healthy Full Size Bulbs. Best handled and transported during the cold season.
Seedlings of this superior form of a Himalayan species known only from a small population in Sikkim. This is larger in stature in all aspects than the typical species with its purplish hooded flowers being 2x larger than normal. Big trifoliate leaves. Named 'Himalayan Giant' by Tony Avent.
