Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Alstroemeria psittacina ‘Variegata’, which goes by many names including White Edged Princess Lily, is a unique herbaceous plant with glossy green foliage edged in bright white. The clumping foliage will spread over time. Displays burgundy-red flowers edged in green and cream that attract hummingbirds! The plant emerges in fall and blooms in summer before going semi-dormant in late summer. Excellent in containers, borders, and as a woodland groundcover. Prefers rich, evenly moist soil with good drainage. Mulch in winter.
A plant with many common names including Peruvian parrot lily, for it's red flowers tipped in green and white, and lily-of-the-Incas, referring to its origins in South America. This Japanese selection has variegated foliage, grayish green with irregular white edges, on stems to 12-18" tall that form slowly widening clumps (eventually enough to share...). Stems emerge in early autumn, flowering in spring and enjoying a period of dormancy in summer. Best in sun to part shade with regular summer water. Frost hardy to at least the bottom of USDA zone 7 with mulch.
One showy plant: variegated leaves and blood-red flowers brushed with white and green! If only it would bloom at Christmas! Next best is Christmas in summer. Minimum temperature: 0°F
Royal Star' is a selection of Alstroemeria psittacina with variegate leaves. The red, white and green flowers with black flecks. The petals are held in a more tubular shape than the more open hybrids.
Red with green and white tips, free flowering, bright white variegated. Outstanding cut flowers for well drained, fertile soil. Mulching, especially the first winter, makes them fairly hardy even in colder zones.
Nice variegated Alstroemeria with clusters of narrow tubular red and green flowers which are a nice departure from the gaudiness of so many of the hybrids. Easy in a sunny spot and tolerates some drier conditions. Prefers a well-drained soil.
