Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Millenium Allium is an ornamental onion with season long interest. The foliage is almost like an ornamental grass before the pom-pom shaped blooms emerge. The 2 inch purple blooms last for around a month and attract pollinators. The foliage has a slight onion smell if bruised, making it unattractive to deer and rabbits. Millenium Allium was the 2018 plant of the year. When you see it blooming in your garden, you will see why!
An ornamental Allium that looks so good, you’ll have to check it to make sure it’s not plastic! 12-18” tall straight stems topped by perfect spheres of ‘bee crack’ disguised as rose lavender florets July August with glossy green thin strappy leaves at the base. Easy in average well drained soils in full sun (pm shade in hot areas), drought tolerant, sterile so no seeding around. Deer and critter resistant. Gotta love this one! 2017 Perennial of the Year!  USDA Zone 5  3" pot
Allium 'Millenium' forms clumps of slender, flattened, linear, glossy green leaves in the spring followed in summer by showy two inch spherical umbels of glowing rose-purple florets. Ornamental onions provide a flower display unlike most other perennials and are thus useful for contrasting flower shapes in the garden.
Allium 'Millenium', is a stunning new introduction from Allium guru Mark McDonough. A must have plant for the summer garden, it forms a compact, upright clump of glossy green, thick leaves and a profusion of large 2" bright rosy purple rounded clusters of flowers over a long period in July and August. A more saturated color than 'All Summer Beauty'. Grows 18" tall.
Like a clustered bouquet, ‘Millennium’ sends up loads of strong stems tipped with 2” umbels of rich rosy lilac from midsummer to fall. Bright glossy green foliage always looks perfect, and the onion scented foliage repels hungry deer and rabbits. Forms a tidy clump that won’t spread around by seed and bees of all kinds absolutely love it!
Just when the garden's got those midsummer doldrums in July and August , the almost fluorescent 2" purple spheres of Allium 'Millenium' kick in for a real pop of color. It's no primadonna, but an easy-care, long lasting plant that is headed for superstardom! Flowers are held on sturdy 8" stems, surrounded by waxy deep green leaves, great for the front of a bed or border. Easily grown in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Best in full sun, but appreciates some light afternoon shade in hot summer climates. Tolerates a wide range of soils and performs well in sandy soils. 'Millenium' is a true bulb on a sturdy rhizome but forms a clump that produces only sterile seed and won't become a nuisance in the landscape. Clumps can be lifted and divided in either spring or fall. From allium breeder extraordinaire Mark McDonough, its hybrid parentage is unknown, but probably includes A. nutens. (The cultivar name was registered under the name of 'Millenium', a minor problem as that word is usually spelled millennium.)
