(SUMMER BEAUTY BEAR’S BREECHES) Much more heat tolerant than the species, this rugged perennial expands on creeping rootstocks in places few would dare to grow! Clumps of large architectural lobed leaves to 2’ create 30” mounds in morning sun to full shade. Will compete with tree roots (where creeping will be inhibited)…most soils but not so happy in clay. Sculptural, erect summer flower spikes resemble giant cream snapdragons with purple bracts, best in bright light. Likes to be moist but drought tolerant; will go dormant early if dry. Deer resistant. USDA Zone 7  4" pot
A superb hybrid with glossy green incised foliage and up to 6 foot spikes of white flowers with purple hoods. Dramatic.
Heat tolerant likely mollis x spinosa
