Native to the eastern Mediterranean, this handsome, evergreen to semi evergreen shrub or small tree can reach 20 ft tall or so x 8-10 ft wide with leathery, dark green leaves, either 3-lobed or single, and smooth dark gray bark that matures to scaly and fissured.
