Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A lovely mimosa, becoming a large shrub or small, multi-trunked tree to 15 ft with odd-looking soft, evergreen foliage - actually small phyllodes or flattened leaf stalks - held close to the stems, and abundant, fragrant yellow blooms in spring. Best in full sun and well-drained soil with little summer water needed once established. Frost hardy for brief periods in the mid teens F, mid to upper USDA Zone 8.
An especially ornamental and adaptable species with conspicuous, triangular, grey-green wings decorating its graceful 10-20' stems. The branches of this multi-trunked shrub/tree bend and weep beautifully (pravissima means 'very crooked') and in late-winter/early spring they are covered with wonderful and profuse bright-yellow puffy flowers which smell just like honey! This glorious plant from Australia has earned the Royal Horticulture Society's Award of Garden Merit. S/M-D/GDr
A fast growing large shrub or small tree with evergreen triangular, blue-green leaves that clasp the stems. In late winter or early spring the stems are adorned with spheres of soft yellow, honey-scented flowers. Well-drained soil, sheltered positions.
Fascinating evergreen shrub or small tree with upright, arching branches clothed in pointed, triangular leaves wrapped tightly against the stems…cool texture! This fast growing woody to 20' enjoys well drained soil and full sun. Bright yellow flowers in late winter and early spring put on a nice show! Drought tolerant, deer resistant. Ours froze to the ground at 6 °F, but sprouted back from the base.
Most zone 8 winters have been kind to this Acacia and we are rewarded with late winter mustard yellow flowers. Triangular gray leaves. 12' tall and wide.
