Undemanding, easy peesy perennial creates a rounded mound of handsome foliage 3-4’ in a sunny spot and is topped by oodles of butter yellow spikes of Lupinesque flowers May June (good cut flower). Deer and drought tolerant (but takes regular watering too), needs minimal care; prefers soils with good drainage but not too fussy. Attracts butterflies; nice interplanted with grasses, tolerates humidity and seaside conditions.
Soft yellow pea-like flowers above grey-green leaves bloom in early summer. Ships when dormant. Minimum temperature: -20°F
