Is a low growing evergreen whip -cord hebe plant. Can get 18"x24". Needs full sun. Grown mostly for its greenish, coppery foliage.
James Stirling' is a dense, low, evergreen dwarf shrub with bright ochre-colored, scale-like leaves appressed to the stems in whipcord fashion. The impression is that of cypress or juniper foliage in a very stout vase shape. White, petaled flowers in late spring cover the top like snowflakes, and brighten it noticeably - a different flower from the spike of most Hebes! This is an unusual color for the garden and looks really great with Euphorbia 'Ascot Rainbow', Juniperus communis 'Compressa', and Euphorbia rigida. Amaze friends and neighbors with a new and unexpected color palette that really works.Minimum temperature: 0?F
James Stirling' is a slow-growing, flat-topped, evergreen shrub. The minute, old-gold coloured foliage closely covers the branches, hence the name whipcord hebe. In late spring to early summer it has white flowers at the branch tips.
