x Halimiocistus wintonensis is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with blue and green foliage. In spring and summer burgundy and white flowers emerge. Attracts bees and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Does well in average, gritty, lean and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and seaside / salt tolerant.

Bushy low-growing shrub to 2' tall with a 4-5' spread. The lanceolate, furry, gray-green leaves disappear behind saucer-shaped, 2" white flowers each marked by deep red bands and a yellow center. Blooms late spring to summer. Garden origin.

Why are Halmiocistus so rare? If you like easy care and bright colors, then this is the plant for you. Among its grey green evergreen leaves appear in late spring cheery white flowers with a ring of brown in the middle surrounding a yellow center. A hybrid originating from the Mediterranean region, it only needs sun and well-drained soil to be happy. Hardy to about 5 - 10 °F.
