Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This hardy callistemon has been in our garden 30 years. The fun red bottlebrush flowers come from strange little buds. The foliage is needle like on an arching evergreen shrub. It seems to come totally true from seed. These plants are cuttings.
An especially hardy bottlebrush, to 5-6 ft tall x 4 ft wide. Bright crimson summer flowers are adored by hummingbirds. Foliage is green with reddish, purplish tinges in winter. Full sun for best flowering. Drought and lean soil tolerant. Easily evergreen at 5 F - mid USDA zone 7. The parent plant of this clone survived a North Carolina winter that dropped to -9F, the bottom of zone 6.
It's range now hopefully extended to include zone 6!, this 8' arching needled-leaved shrub is covered with bright red "bottle brushes" in early summer...quite a sight! S/M-D/GDr
Zn 7. Evergreen. Red flowers in the spring.
The leaves are soft to the touch and evergreen. Blooms on new growth and can be a spring bloomer and probably again in late summer. Best in well-drained soil.
One of the hardier Bottlebrush varieties that can tolerate zone 8 winter temperatures. Produces masses of large glowing red bottlebrush-like flower clusters in spring and summer. A tough and drought tolerant medium to large, evergreen shrub.
This stunning plant is long considered hardy only in Zone 9 and 10 but now EUREKA, Woodlander's Nursery introduces a beauty hardy to zone 7. Oh wow! Lovely red Bottle Brush flowers and narrow leaves. While they're 3-5' tall, the long arching stems can reach 6-10'. The leaves are evergreen and despite appearance, actually soft to touch. Tawny olive winter color.

Perhaps the hardiest clone enduring single digits with scarcely a whimper. (It may be whimpering but my own wails of despair drown all else out). Evergreen picking up russet tones in winter. Summer fuzzy red flowers on the stems. Deer Proof/drought tolerant.
Probably C. rigidus, seedlings will exhibit slight variation. Lots of red flowers, excellent performer in Southeast US. 5 ° F. I thought this was a form of C. subulatus for a long time, but the very bright, showy crimson bottlebrushes have leaves in them, and the growth habit is a little smaller, making it better where space is limited. Woodlander's Nursery, Inc. has found it to be very cold-hardy for the Southeast US.
Red flowered bottlebrush, hardy.
