Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Dense, compact deciduous shrub, eventually 6-10’ tall and wide; light pink 3” spheres of flowers May to June bring exclamations from garden visitors! Enjoys sun to part shade and is easy in average garden soil. Interesting pleated foliage has bronzy new growth and burgundy fall color. Blooms on one year wood, so do any pruning immediately after flowering. Drought tolerant when established.
We still think this is the best of the pink V. tomentosum varieties. We got our original cuttings from Connie Hansen, Lincoln City, OR. The lovely pink flowers are backed by deep purple new foliage.
Leaves in spring and early summer have a bronzy-pink flush, and both leaf and flower petiole are shades of rose. These pink tones are further enhanced by the pearly white flowers tinted pink on the edges. Place in partial shade where summers are hot.
