Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Another shrubby member of the Winteraceae from New Zealand. To 3-4' tall with succulent appearing leaves colored orangey-red and nearly pink new growth....ooh! Small white flowers produce bluish black berries, adding interest to the plant. Very good container or garden specimen. Full sun for best color and well-drained soils with reasonable summer moisture. Container plant only in the humid Southeast. Frost hardy to about 15 °F, mid USDA zone 8, though has come through 10 °F with protection.
