Glossy foliage is variable; the juvenile leaves are holly-like and spiny becoming entire on older specimens. Elegant, arching, evergreen shrub, slow growing to 5' tall and 6' wide for part to full shade. Foliage is splashed with pink and cream and flushes burgundy in winter. Very at home in the woodland with drooping clusters of white flowers (nice in arrangements) in spring that age to dark blue berries. Rich, well-drained soil and regular dry season water.
