This plant is valued for beautiful flowers that bloom in profusion in late summer and early fall. Loves sun and needs long hot summers to flower well. Grow in humus rich, well drained, slightly alkaline soil. This shrub will grow to about 12' tall with a spread of 6-10'. There are many varieties as well as many different colors, and they all take well to pruning.

[white new leaves and pink flowers] A nice selection of a popular plant, this rose of sharon has leaves that emerge white and darken to green and pink flowers in summer. A deciduous shrub, multi-stemmed to 6-8' tall x 4-8' wide, that is easily pruned to tree form. Prefers rich soil in full sun to part shade with average moisture but tolerates less ideal situations including urban conditions, poor soil, and some summer drought. Fine as a small, street tree. Frost hardy to -20 °F, USDA zone 5.
