Nursery contributed plant descriptions

?One of our most handsome native woody vines, often overlooked by gardeners? (Foote), this vigorous vine, groundcover, or wall scrambler produces its 2-4" flower clusters of tiny, honey-scented flowers in summer. S-PSh/M
Wood Vamp is our native cousin to Climbing Hydrangea. Like its cousin, Decumaria is self-clinging and sports large clusters of fragrant white flowers in late spring. The rich, deep green foliage is considered superior by some growers.
"This is probably the most coveted plant in our gardens," Tony Avent, Plant Delights. Gorgeous foliage that looks like thick, waxy leaves but are actually just wide stems! Beautiful marble sized orange-red berries are prized by florists. Easy and durable even in deep shade. Pricey because they are very slow to propagate - 5-7 years from seed to a SMALL saleable plant. CHOICE, CHOICE! Sweet, delectably fragrant creamy flowers.

Deciduous climber to 20' with 3" white flower can also be useful as a groundcover in woodland areas.
Our collection of this lovely, climbing hydrangea relative from east central Georgia (also a newly charted, very northern habitat of the needle palm, Rhapidophyllum hystrix). These most attractive vines make an evergreen groundcover or a dense, clinging vine for tree or trellis, flowering only after they have climbed a year or two with white lace caps held horizontally against the foliage. Enjoys summer water in sun or shade, flowering more heavily in sun. Frost hardy in USDA zone 6, probably zone 5. [SBH 2320]
