Brunsvigia herrei [Bulletrap (3 yr 2025)] plant details
Nursery contributed plant descriptions
Brunsvigia herrei is a rare, slow-growing, South African and Namibian candelabra lily with a dazzling floral display with a large, Allium-like, spherical inflorescences at least 12 inches wide and nearly two feet tall bloom with their trumpet-shaped white to pale pink, fragrant flowers. The flowers bloom in summer or fall. This candelabra lily has large, tongue-like leaves that grow in winter from a very large bulb that sits exposed partly above ground. Keep on the dry side when dormant in summer perhaps watering only once a month. Plant the bulb half exposed. This is a non-hardy bulb that can be grown as a houseplant or in a heated greenhouse or sunroom. It's perfect for those interested in bulbs and houseplants and for succulent lovers looking to branch out. We are not sure how long it will take a bulb to reach adult blooming size but a range of 6-10 years is typical for candelabra lilies.
