Cyclamen hederifolium [pure silver leaf] plant details

The cream of the silver-leaved crop. Seed-grown plants have a certain amount of natural variation, and plants from one nursery may differ slightly from each other, as well as from plants from another nursery, but all have been selected for beautiful silver foliage with minimal green markings. This is why we've grouped them together. Flowers may be pink or white.

Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Add this Hardy Cyclamen for winter and early spring interest in a protected spot, perhaps near a doorway or walkway you frequent daily. This strain of Cyclamen has proven exceptionally hardy when planted deeply and provided in a lime enriched, well drained soil plus protection from winter winds. Tidy clumps of pewter silver heart shaped leaves appear in autumn and act as an attractive base for 6-8" stems bearing shades of pink reflexed petals. Sweet as can be! Plants begin to go dormant as spring progresses, so mark the spot before you add summer plantings.
Usually pink, sometimes white flowers 1" tall with darker, ruffled-like base. Very attractive, silver foliage from late fall thru spring. For well drained soil. Great for planting under trees and shrubs where they naturalize. 2 3/8" square - 3 3/4" deep pots.
Seedlings from Brigitta's hand picked collection from Ashwoods, Archibalds and others, the strain probably originated with Bowles Apollo. The parents rival anything seen on the European show benches, these are absolutely stunning, basically solid silver with just a few green marks. The metallic Silver leaves are simply unreal they look spray painted. If anyone could ever breed a Hosta that looked like this it would sell for a hundred grand. ZONE 5
Our seedlings of these fall flowering beauties, taken from isolated plants of entirely silver-leaved forms. The same warm pink flowers appear early, at the end of August, and often continue into October and November giving way to way to sheets of silver leaves. Wonderful when interplanted with black mondo grass (Ophiopogon planiscarpus'Nigrescens'). Easy in USDA zone 6 or above in open areas of light shade and little disturbance. Has been grown successfully as low as zone 4 with culms mulched or planted a bit deep.
