Crocus mathewii is a rare and beautiful, fall-flowering species with white petals and grape purple bases on both the outside of the petals and the inside of the throat. The purple is offset with the yellow anthers and the orange stigmas. It is a relatively newly described species known to science only since 1994. Hardy to at least zone 5, possibly colder.
