Iris zagrica is a recently-described (2009), reticulata-type iris with icy sky blue standards with a darker centre area above beautifully veined, imperial purple and pale blue falls and a central orange crest. Though the flowers look quite similar to I. reticulata, one big difference is the long flower stalks of I. zagrica making it look like a reticulata on stilts! Named for the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These hardy dwarf iris prefer full sun in a position that is well-drained. They will go dormant by summer so plant them where they can grow up through perennial ground covers.
