Astrantia major 'Purple Happiness' plant details

Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Astrantia major 'Purple Happiness' forms clumps of deeply lobed, dark green foliage topped with branching stems of dark purple-red, pincushion flowers with colourful bracts that bloom from early summer to autumn. Deadhead once flowering finishes to encourage re-bloom or leave the attractive seed heads on the plants. Low maintenance with long-lasting colour. Masterworts bloom for months on end and are incredibly valuable for a range of light conditions from part shade to full sun. The detailing in their pincushion-like flowers with their subtending involucral bracts is intricate and beautiful. Pollinator attractor, especially bees and butterflies. Deer and rabbit resistant.
