Calamagrostis arundinacea 'Caspian' plant details

Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Calamagrostis brachytricha 'Caspian' is a superlative Korean feather reed grass and one of the few ornamental grasses that can bloom in full sun and partial shade. The foliage grows in a three foot, fountain-like mound with broad, pink, feathery plumes rising up to four feet tall in late summer and autumn. The plumes fade to cream and then, along with the foliage, to straw colour, both remaining attractive through winter and providing a refuge for beneficial insects. Effective as a specimen, planted en masse for vertical appeal and movement, as a privacy screen, and in dried flower arrangements. Salt tolerant.
