Kuro Gaki Japanese Persimmon

Diospyros kaki 'Kuro Gaki' is a distinctive persimmon from China with unusual glossy blue-black fruit (seen in our photo part way through its deepening of colour) that is sweet and delicious with orange pulp. The fruit is astringent and should be eaten when it is soft and tender like a tomato. Trees also have excellent orange-red fall foliage. Persimmons are one of the most popular fruits in Asia and treasured for fresh eating or desserts. Self-fertile.
