Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Selenicereus pteranthus f. macdonaldiae, known as princess of the night, is a unique dragon fruit with long, narrow, cylindrical leaves and impressive, fragrant, night-blooming flowers with broad, overlapping, icy white inner petals and very narrow yellow, orange and red outer petals. Plants can produce edible fruit with pink skin and white flesh filled with crunchy black seeds. The fruit is mildly sweet and refreshing. White flowers are nocturnal and usually last just one night where pollination is necessary to set fruit. A cool houseplant with the potential for delicious edible fruit. Hardy to zone 9b.
