Arctostaphylos mewukka 'Blue Point' is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with blue foliage. In spring and winter apricot and pink flowers emerge followed by red fruit. Features glaucous texture. Attracts bees, beneficial insects, birds, butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in acidic, average, clay, gritty, lean and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

This selection, another choice by Allan Taylor from a lovely group of natural hybrids in Eldorado County California, is an evergreen mounding shrub, to 3 ft tall or a bit more, with particularly large pale blue leaves, to 3", on contrasting mahogany-red stems, to 4 ft, with peachy pink flowers in profusion from late winter to mid spring. Best in mineral soil that drains well in full sun with very little summer water once established. Frost hardy in USDA zone 6b. (A. x miwukka is a stable hybrid between A. viscida ssp. mariposa x A. patula.)
