Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Another delightful Stewartia, this one a large shrub with bark that flakes to reveal smooth, pink-to-orange underbark; 1-2" white flowers are cup-shaped and fragrant; leaves turn a rich crimson in autumn. S-PSh/M
Limited. Seedlings from our wonderful mature plant. We got our original specimen from New Zealand. Its now 15'x15' and wonderful with its shredding bark. In fall, the leaves turn bright red. Small white flowers in June.
With its tight internodes it develops a somewhat shrubby character, but 6-7 years from a liner, becomes a handsome small tree. Flowers the size of a quarter, but they literally cover the tree at eye-level. The foliage is tinged bronze as spring unfolds, and fall color is a muted maroon. Flaky cinnamon-colored bark offers attractive winter interest.
White camellia-like flowers summer, red-orange fall color. Flaking bark pink-orange underbark. Zones 6-8.
White flowers in the summer with leaves somewhat larger than Stewartia pseudocamellia. Becomes a small tree to 20 feet tall.
