Nursery contributed plant descriptions

(BLUE FLOWERED POTATO VINE) Vigorous shrubby vine bears oodles of purple-blue flowers with prominent bright yellow stamens over a very long season (May>Oct); sprawling and best with some support – great for arbors, growing to 15’ or scrambling over woody neighbors. Full sun for best bloom, any soil (even clay), summer water; deer and rabbit resistant; easy (being in the tomato/potato family, plants are toxic).
Heart-shaped wavy leaves are golden to chartreuse and form a compact dense mound. Dramatic purple flowers spikes appear in summer.
A vining potato vine. The evergreen foliage is glossy year round. The small flowers are medium blue. Must be tied to a trellis as there are not tendrils or holdfasts.
This handsome, shrubby, viney, small tree, to 15 ft or so, is the semi-evergreen version of a potato vine. Clusters of dark purple-blue flowers accented with golden-yellow stamens are very showy over a very long time in the summer. Not self clinging, so wrap it around something in full to part sun with not much water. Much hardier than the pure white forms and somewhat more substantial. Frost hardy in USDA zone 8 re- sprouting from the ground down into the mid teens.
The Chilean potato vine has exotic, potato-like flowers, each with lilac petals around a pointed yellow centre which appear continuously from spring to mid-autumn. Great for a sunny wall. Needs support and a little tying up. The semi-evergreen leaves will remain on the plant in all but bad winters.
