Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Extremely cold hardy tree native to a very large area of North America. While it has little landscape value in our opinion, it is used heavily by wildlife. Michael Dirr lists this in the "same category as Ulmus pumila, Ailanthus altissima, and Morus alba" if that tells you anything about its ornamental merits, yet it will survive in harsh climates. This is not "the tree" for a Mother's Day gift, but grows where little else will.
