Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The original plant at Jane Platt's garden was a very small deciduous vine.
This rare climbing Petiolaris form found right here in Oregon If you ever have the chance to see the Platt garden in the hills west of Portland, don't miss out! This climber was found in the legendary private garden of John & Jane Platt. We have chosen to list this as Petiolaris. At least until we can figure out whether it's Schizophragma (as we purchased) or Petiolaris (as it behaves). A beauty with petite leaves and compact habit, we love it!
We figured things weren't confused enough so we added one more cultivar to the 'Brookside Littleleaf', Hydrangea anomola petiolaris, Hydrangea quelpartensis complex. If anyone has definitively sorted this mess out let us know.
Not too big ; not too small, this right-in-the-middle Hydrangea vine has leaves ; stature between Brookside, which is a dwarf, and the "papa bear" species; slow to bloom but a nicely textured vine. Sun-PSh/Med
The original plant was found in Jane Platt's garden. The foliage is finely textured, medium green and small. White flowers are sparse on this slow growing deciduous vine. While many list it as Hydrangea anomala ssp petiolaris 'Platt's Dwarf' others put it in the species Schizophragma hydrangeodies. We have chosen to list it under Schizophragma.
