A more dependable choice for the Pacific Northwest from Tasmania, reaching 30-40’ tall and about half as wide in 10-12 years; evergreen, with juvenile foliage, blue-silver, rounded and whorled on stems, prized by floral arrangers (fresh & dried). Eventually morphs to a more standard mature leaf shape, silver-green and pointed, unless tree is coppiced to maintain juvenile growth for cutting. Plant in full sun, average soil, eventually drought tolerant; deer resistant
One of the hardier of the Eucalyptus, this slender, straight tree (fast growth to 60-80') has small broad blue-green leaves, white mid-summer flowers and elegant smooth white bark. The sap of this interesting tree is sweet and can be tapped and either drunk as is or fermented into a cider; a good choice for aromatherapy oils, excellent bee forage and tolerant of many soil types and a good choice for coastal gardens. Eucalyptus gunnii is the euc most found in dried arrangements with the round leaves encircling the stem. zone 7
Very fast growing, medium to large tree. Silver dollar shaped leaves on young growth become lance-shaped on older growth. Prune to grow as a large shrub to have an abundance of leaves for arrangements. Small creamy white flowers appear April through June from shiny green buds and later become lovely bell-shaped seed capsules in clusters. This is a good shade, windbreak or privacy screen. Hardy once established.
