Arctostaphylos x densiflora 'Sentinel' is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In spring and winter pink flowers emerge followed by green and red fruit. Attracts bees, birds and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in acidic, average, clay, gritty, lean and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

One of our favorite manzanitas with dark mahogany bark, felted new growth aging to deep green, pink flowers in spring, and little green berries in summer. A great evergreen shrub (to 5' high and wide) for a slope or a well-drained sunny spot. Can be tipped to encourage dense growth. Hardy to 5 °F - mid USDA zone 7.
This popular selection of a northern California native forms an upright shrub to 6' tall and as wide, perhaps larger over time. Dark leaves and smooth red-brown bark are offset by generous clusters of pink flowers that cover the plant in spring. Relatively easy to grow, it is not afflicted with leaf spots or other ailments, but it does require perfect drainage and no summer water except in the hottest climates. For full sun; hardy to 5 °F.
Usually a prolific late winter bloomer with blush pink urn-like flowers Sentinel creates a 6' x 8' mound. Prune off lower branches to reveal the inner structure.
