Uebelmannia pectinifera is an evergreen cactus / succulent with chocolate and green foliage. In fall yellow flowers emerge. Features fuzzy and glaucous texture. Grows well with sun - bright shade and low water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

The species name comes from the Latin for "bearing combs". This is a truely classical plant worthy of any collection. The surface of the plant has a unique elongated vertical celular structure which is almost irridescent in sunlight. As is often the case, these particular plants have some scarring at the base. Though some web sites indicate this plant is hardy to 20°F, that's not our experience. We would never be comfortable growing these at temps below freezing and would prefer to keep them above 45 or 50°F and out of extreme heat in Summer.
