This Sinningia has long tubular white flowers, curved slightly upwards at the end as if they are looking up at you. To 15" or so, with fuzzy green leaves, full sun with summer water, prefers good winter drainage. Hummingbirds will love you. USDA Zone 7b.
Sinningia ‘Alba’ is unique hardy perennial sprouting up numerous flower stalks from a large, deciduous, underground tuber. The stems are covered in a multitude of dangling, white tubular flowers all season. A favorite of hummingbirds.
RARE tuberous perennial – 2' tall summer spikes of very FRAGRANT 6" long, pure white flowers from Argentina! Light shade, average soil, multiplies where happy, loved by hummingbirds – happy in rock gardens
Related to African violets, this is a tuber forming gesneriad that sends up vining foliage with beautiful, long white tubular flowers that have the best scent I've ever experienced. You don't have to stick your nose anywhere near them, either. The whole end of the greenhouse smells good when they bloom! Tuber can be raised up like a caudex and vines trained in a trellis.
From large spreading underground tubers arise clumps of green felty leaves producing 2' spikes of very fragrant pure white tubular flowers. Attracts hummingbirds. Likes sun to part shade, hardy in zones 7b-10, growing up to 20"
Extra long tubular flowers flared at the end are so sweet and fragrant in late mid to late summer. Works as a pot specimen or outside in a sheltered spot.
Another nice tuberous Sinningia with striking white tubular flowers held up on a long stem. Keep dry and frost-free during winter dormancy. However, they have been proven hardy in zone 6 in sheltered locations, especially with tubers underground. White flowers are richly scented.
