Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Perfect for a partially sunny windowsill or light garden, Cardinal Flower is a compact, blooming plant that's ideal for the potted garden. It stays under a foot in height and blooms on and off from spring to fall. During the winter months, under cool temperatures and low light, it can go into a 'rest period" when the foliage dies back or goes dormant. In late winter or early spring, broad fuzzy leaves reappear from the root tubers and create a pretty rosette from which brilliant scarlet-red, tubular flowers arise.
Very similar to the following but with larger, green leaves. And - guess what - it has red flowers!
