Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This delightful medium-sized shrub reaches 4-6' and covers itself with showy single pink flowers in summer followed by a profuse crop (5 to 10 pounds!) of extra-large red fruits that are up to one inch in diameter and are a great source of vitamin C, often used to make a wonderful rose hip jelly; the pretty leaves turn a soft yellow fall. S/M
The apple rose has tiny 1" pink flowers in May. If you saw the flowers you would dig up the plant and throw it away. The great thing are the hips that turn a burnt orange in late Aug.-Sept. The 1" fruit are truly beautiful when they cover the upright 6'-8' shrub. We don't spray and haven't seen any pests on R. pomifera.
