Rarely offered, exotic, evergreen shrub, eventually 6-8' high and not quite as wide. This baby shows off with deeply lobed, lightly serrated, palmate leaves vaguely resembling spread out fingers...VERY textural and architectural specimen for the garden! Sputnik fruit clusters in fall with black berries are cool. Morning sun to bright shade, average soil and regular water to look its best.
Fatsia polycarpa is a species I was excited to see in the wild in Taiwan. It grows very similarly to the familiar F. japonica but it has highly dissected, palmate leaves that offer a more delicate and lacy look in the shade garden. 'Green Fingers' is an excellent dissected form with irregular toothing to each lobe. A fantastic, gorgeous shrub for garden or container. It will also likely make a good houseplant in winter in colder regions. Possibly hardy to zone 7.
