Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Fabulous, new cultivar of an old trusted favorite perennial with sparkling yellow foliage supporting indigo blue flower spikes in early summer! Upright stems to 3’ and spreading 3-4’ wide; sun, but avoid hot late afternoon as foliage can burn; average soil, drought tolerant AND critter resistant! Low maintenance and long lived, glow baby glow.
Baptisia 'Golden Anniversary' is the first false indigo with golden yellow foliage! In early summer, contrasting and strikingly beautiful indigo blue flowers emerge on yellow stems that rise up just above the foliage. Plants have a compact habit up to 36 inches tall and wide. Baptisia are long-lived lupin relatives that will thrive with little maintenance and are tolerant of a wide range of soils from rich borders to to dry and marginal conditions. However, they dislike being moved once established. Despite being herbaceous, they have presence in the garden like a shrub and will grow into a vase-shaped anchor plant for meadows, borders, or as a specimen. They can even help feed your garden with the nitrogen-fixing bacteria associated with their roots. Pollinator attractor. Deer resistant.
