Nursery contributed plant descriptions

I've been looking for this plant to offer for several years and finally found a source of two gallon plants. This species of rose has purple foliage all summer. Can get to 8' tall in time. Flowers are small pink in June. This is one of the nice shrub roses to plant.
This fine 6-8' rose comes to us from the mountains of central and southern Europe. Unlike other roses, this one is often grown for its foliage of outstanding smoky-purple. Lovely, single, fragrant pink star-shaped flowers on this vase-shaped shrub are pretty too! Orange rose hips in fall persist into winter and make for nice contrast with the violet stems. S/M
Single pink flowers grace this lovely arching shrub. Greyish-purple foliage and deep purple stems. Rose hips maintain through fall and winter.
This rose is as tough as nails and the best rose of all for folial impact. The leaves are violet- and blue-tinged against which the small starry, pink and white blossoms make a striking contrast. Small, rounded dark red rose hips follow the flowers and remain on the shrub through winter and well into the following spring. Gary's second favourite rose, after R. chinensis 'Mutabilis', and a must-have for any garden. Tolerant of shade but has deeper foliage colour in full sun.
Celebrated for its dreamy, pewter-blue serrated foliage and the elegant simplicity of its single, light-centered, clear pink flowers, this princely shrub has a tranquil persona. Nearly thornless, medium-sized canes transmute purple hues, while offering quantities of shiny, oval-shaped coppery red hips that spice up the off-season landscape. Indigenous to central and southern Europe's mountains, Rosa glauca has been cultivated as a gracefully arching medium-sized specimen since the early 1800s and in our garden, it passes time alongside a silver-leafed Teucrium fruticans (Select Form).
Small single pink flowers on arching, 6 ft. canes and purple foliage with a bluish cast. Seedlings should be selected for dark purple flowers and disease resistance. Grow it in an open site where it will get lots of sun.
The single rose blossoms range from a pleasing pastel pink to white. But this is a rose grown as much for the gorgeous red hips that persist much of the year, and its dark purple foliage color that provides a wonderful foil to the silvers and greens that dominate our xeriscapes. This hardy blooming shrub thrives just about anywhere providing graceful presence with no effort, beautifying the dry garden all year around. Clay, sandy soil or loam. USDA zones 3-9 (up to 9000').
A beloved Rose with soft pewter folaige and purplish canes which carry elegantly the single pink flowers followed by the quietly nice red/orange hips. Barely thorned, it moves with grace in the wind working as a hedge, a back-border element or a single specimen. Nice with Thalictrum 'Elin'.
As unique a Rose as can be found - the dusky, purple hued leaves of this shrub may confound garden visitors accustomed to the common Rose bush. Beautiful & striking in or out of bloom, its single 2” pink-blushed flowers are borne in clusters, & glow against the dark leaves. Bloom time is Spring & as this species is a once-bloomer, you won't get a repeat performance, but showy orange red hips follow the flowers & often persist through the Winter, adding interest to the plant. These make great cut flower material, too! Rosa glauca makes a handsome hedge, but can also mix easily into mixed borders. Mature plants have an upright habit with arching stems & can grow 7’ tall & 5’ or more wide. Drought tolerant, disease resistant & shade tolerant as well. What a package!

Grown as much for its foliage as its flowers this deciduous shrub, to 6 ft tall x 5 ft wide, has glaucous blue foliage and, in June, single pink flowers with white centers. Lovely rose hips follow and remain through the winter. Happy in a sunny garden spots some summer water. Disease resistant. Frost hardy in USDA zone 2.
