Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Pachyphytum compactum is an Echeveria relative with thick, rounded, pointed, grey-green leaves with white markings that look like the facets of cut crystal. The leaf tips can flush with purple and plants can develop short stems over time. Please note that the leaves pop off very easily and some leaves may dislodge if you require shipping. However, plants grow quite quickly and won't take long to fill out again.

A tender succulent with charming rosettes of chubby pointed leaves, carrying leaf imprints, on short stems. Flowers are pink in spring. Easy to grow. Likes good drainage and heat in part to full sun. An occasional splash of summer water and a bit of fertilizer too. Useful as a container plant that is then brought in to a sunny window during winter to protect from freezing. Frost hardy to 25 °F - mid USDA zone 9.

From the Mexican states of Queretaro and Hidalgo, it forms stout stems to 6 inches long (or longer if pendent) with a compact rosette of gray-green tinged violet leaves. The imprint from the neighboring leaves gives the plant a distinctive appearance.
