Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Endemic to the hills north of Monterey, California, this is one of several Cypressus perfect for urban, summer-dry gardens. Pyramidal, slightly upright growth with horizontal branching and bright green to sometimes blue-green foliage. Cones are larger here than some other species and are attractive amid the foliage. Flaking, silver-grey bark adds to the show. Grows to 25-35'. Does particularly well in urban grey infrastructure and other tough, sunny situations -- next to your sidewalk, perhaps? -- as long as the soil is well-drained and it gets water until established. Sun to dappled shade. Cold hardy to USDA zone 7.
