Nursery contributed plant descriptions
A Cistus Nursery introduction. This lovely plant from the place of the same name along the northern California coast. Grows to a dense eighteen inches tall, the original plant over sixty feet across, spilling over the edge of a cliff to the sea spray of the Pacific. In cultivation has spread to about five feet in as many years. Densely held jade green leaves to an inch and a half, lightly furry complemented by pearly pink to white flowers mid to late winter. Easy in cultivation given well drained soil and maybe not against hot pavement. Similar plants collected by staff of Tilden regional park and California Flora Nursery, so a few names might need sorting out. USDA zone 8a.
