Pixie is a descriptive name for this 3-6' cutie whose leaves (though much smaller) provide Bloodgood?s deep summer and bright-red fall color. PSh/M
(GOLDEN CURRANT) This distinctive cultivar has been featured in English gardens for years…but has just recently found its way ‘across the pond’ to the USA. Beautiful, but not vigorous, reaching a mere 4-5’, sparkling with bright gold new foliage fading to chartreuse. Rose pink chains of dangling flowers in spring! Bright light is necessary for best leaf color, but too much may burn especially in hot summer climates…high filtered shade, morning sun is best. Prefers well drained soil, regular moisture till established (at least). RHS Award of Garden Merit. Z6 3” pot
A new form of our native red flowering currant with wonderful gold leaves and pink flowers. The leaves emerge bright gold in spring and gradually cool to chartreuse by summer. Morning sun and afternoon shade would be ideal as the leaves can scorch in too much heat and light. But if you can get the spot right you will certainly be rewarded.
A golden leaved form of flowering current that grows to about 4-5'. Racemes of pink flowers appear in early spring, followed by blue black fruit which is edible but not especially tasty. Great candidate for very early color in a partially shaded spot.
An outstanding gold-leaved selection of this Pacific Northwest native species. Extraordinary, glowing yellow foliage begins to emerge as the drooping racemes of bright pink flowers come into their own in midspring. Edible blue-black fruits ripen in early summer. Tolerates partial shade and some drought. Upright habit. AGM winner. Very choice.
A golden leafed form of our native flowering current. Flowers are pink in spring. The golden foliage holds its color all summer with afternoon shade.
