I'm not exactly sure what this is, and I know very little about it, other than it comes to me from the exhaustive collection of Hayes Jackson in Anniston, Alabama. It may be native to somewhere in that state, and can be expected to tolerate winter wet and cold to at least 0 °F. It probably has yellow flowers, and, of course, golden spines (which doesn't exactly narrow down Opuntia taxonomy.) Try it and see what it does!
