This U.S. native has dark green leaves with a wide irregular band of golden yellow. The foliage is striking all summer. The flowers are typical H. virginana being small, yellow in January-February. Little Prospect Witch Hazel is an outstanding selection from Walnut Hill Farms in Tennessee. It is a densely branched, compact witch hazel with year round interest. Little Prospect Witch Hazel is one of the most striking of all the witch hazels due to the unique foliage. It has wonderfully variegated lemon yellow and dark green leaves. In the fall, the branches are covered with yellow blooms. Even when all the leaves are gone, the unique branching pattern shows the distinct growth pattern.
