    Athyrium niponicum 'Metallicum' plant details

    'Metallicum' is a spore strain of painted fern regarded by the Royal Horticultural Society as synonymous with the Pictum Group. However, the Missouri Botanic Garden appears to recognize it as a separate cultivar. We have separated them in our database for the sake of our partner nurseries who sell plants under both names. Spore strains can have slight variations among individuals.

    Athyrium niponicum 'Metallicum' is a moderate-growing deciduous fern with blue, burgundy, green, purple, variegated and white foliage. Grows well with bright shade - shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something humidity tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.
