Echeveria subsessilis, or Morning Beauty Plant, is a lovely succulent rosette with bluish-green to grey-green, spoon-shaped leaves with margins and tips that flush to pink. The waxy coating gives it a soft, powdery look. Displays pink and orange blooms on stalks. Provide a well-drained soil away from reflected heat. Requires little water once established. Ideal in warm climate landscapes, rock gardens and container gardens, but is especially happy sitting on your windowsill as a houseplant. Protect your PRINCE OF PARADISE™ from frost!
Lovely fast growing echeveria, found in Mexico and north into California on rocky outcrops where drainage is very fast. Rosettes of silver-blue leaves are highlighted in purple and topped with stalks of dark orange flowers beginning in early summer. Best in lean soil that drains quickly and bright light where they are protected from the hottest sun. Little water is needed in the winter months with more provided in spring and summer. Frost hardy to 25 °F, USDA zone 9b, so best in containers with winter protection where temperatures drop below. Crassulaceae
Waxy blue leaves, 6" rosettes purple tinged in full sun. Hardy to 25 °F.
Native to Mexico, this is a popular form of Hens and Chicks which forms 4-6" blue gray rosettes of fleshy ovate leaves. It bears pale orange pink waxy bells along 5-10" elongating stems in a summer. Shipping 4" pots.
Who can resist a plant with a last name like that? Forming a 6” rosette of beautiful silver-blue leaves that can become tipped in red, this Echeveria has pink-orange blooms in summer & will form new rosettes to become a nice-sized clump. Appreciates less water in Winter, so if you have a lot of Winter rainfall make sure this plant gets good drainage. From Mexico. Makes a nice houseplant for a sunny window.
Powdery blue leaves trimmed in pale pink. This species now includes Echeveria subsessilis per Myron Kimnach but there are slight differences. The leaves are thinner than the type and it lacks the ridge on the upper surface of the leaf. This is the subsessilis form. New Aug. 2010.
