Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Very similar to its North American cousin, the Mexican Cypress or Montezuma Cypress is a splendid tree! Native to Mexico and Guatemala (also populations in the Rio Grande valley and Las Cruces New Mexico), natively, it is found growing next to springs, marshes and rivers. It is adaptable and can tolerate drier sites. This stunning fine needled evergreen (perhaps deciduous in zone 8) reaches 60-80' in cultivation, there is a specimen in Oaxaca, Mexico which is the 'stoutest tree in the world' with a circumference of over 37', it is over 110' tall, majestic! This fine specimen is the national tree of Mexico. S/M-W
