Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This interesting 80-100', narrowly conical tree comes from the mountains and bogs of Siberia and Mongolia. This stately tree is a member of the white pine tribe, with deep-green needles in bundles of five. The edible pine nuts of this species are widely used in Russia. Very similar to Pinus cembra and sometimes it is listed as a subspecies; it features larger cones than cembra. This makes good ornamental conifer for cold climates. S/M-W
