Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This is an incredibly rare plant from the humid, moist, valleys and streamsides of Japan and Korea. These deciduous shrub /trees are wide spreading to 20' high with very decorative foliage. The leaves are oval-lanceolate, 3-8" in. long and regularly toothed with parallel veins much like a sweet chestnut. Tiny, creamy-white to pink, summer flower panicles are showy, they are abundant and quite fragrant. Flowers become clusters of small dark red to black fruits. These seedlings are tender when young; give them some winter protection until a strong woody base has been established. PSh/M
